How to transform your home while you’re in isolation…

What an interesting time to be alive, our world that never seems to rest has been placed on pause, how can we take advantage of this time to transform our homes and our lives? Read on, and I will share a few things that I have found therapeutic, and also a few things that we can all plan for the other side of this great pause too.

5 Things I do everyday to make the most of home time!

One

A Slow Morning; with no need for the morning commute, there is time for a slower start to the day. I find this time perfect for letting my body properly wake up over a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Next, a refreshing shower to get me ready for the day ahead (as there is still work to be done after all!). But take your time, sip your coffee slowly and read a book, maybe even water your plants. Create the pace that will give you the most productive day that doesn’t have the stress of the normal mundane routine.

Two

Take a Walk; with most of our regular activities now on hold, taking a walk has never been so important. Not only is a walk good for your soul but it is also good for your imagination too, make it an adventure, explore all of those places close to home that you have always walked past, those little parks & tree lined streets. Pause for a few moments and take some photos of interesting things that you see too, I promise you will be dreaming big!

Three

Cook a feast! I think that most of us have been very good with this one, but it’s definitely the perfect opportunity to get cooking. Not only is it a fantastic way to eat, but it also fills your home with good memories and aromas. It makes every meal an occasion.

Four

Rediscover what you already have; we can all too often get so caught up in the latest this or that, that we can very easily forget what we already have! Take some time to go through your cupboards, you will find things that you have forgotten about, and now is the perfect opportunity to rediscover what you already have and start using it again today!

Five

A good nights sleep; we all know how important a good nights sleep is and now is the perfect time to really recharge and give your body a fresh start!

5 Things to plan for for the future…

One

Plan; We have a very unique opportunity at the moment that we have never had before, an opportunity to pause and look at what we have right now and what we want for the future. Now is the perfect time plan, too look at what we want and how we can work towards it.
Ask yourself, do I have the home of my dreams? You can you start to plan for that today, now is the perfect opportunity, after all ,we are all home and noticing what needs to be done!

Two

Sort; Now is the time to get things sorted, go through your draws, cupboards and wardrobes and have a good clean out. There is nothing like sorting out your home so you know what you have and what you might want to edit and add to make it complete.
This also makes planning for the future so much easier, you will discover how much space you really have and rediscover that favourite book or roll of fabric that has been stashed away to re-cover your favourite chair!

Three

Learn; Take some time to learn about your taste so you can go into the future and only buy things that you love, pieces that will add to your home and life and things that will make you happy. There is no point in buying all of the on trend things if you are now noticing that in your sorting, not everything has made the cut. You want everything that is staying to have enduring style and to be part of your collection because you have a connection with it.
Bring together everything that you love and start to plan around those special things, is there a colour or style that you keep seeing? Take this time to really discover your personal style.

Four

Prepare; with all of that you have learnt about yourself through; Planning, Sorting and Learning, you can now start to prepare for the future! Make a list of what you want to achieve and how you want to go forward and who will be the best people to help get you there.

Five

Get started; Now that you are getting prepared it is the perfect time to get the wheels moving! Wouldn’t it be fantastic if after this massive pause in your life, you were in a better place then when it started? So get your research sorted and get things moving so that when the world gets moving again you are ready to go, and first in line to make your dreams come true!
