Make 2021 the Year of your Dream Home!
With the start of a new year it is always the perfect time to get your “House in Order” as they say and after making it through 2020 in one piece, I think that 2021 is a year that we all deserve to enjoy and really make the most of our Melbourne homes.
For many spending months at home in 2020 (Especially for my fellow Melbournians) certainly highlighted the importance of home, and not just home as a space where we sleep and eat (and work for many in recent times), but home as a place of sanctuary, relaxation and restoration.
With our changing feelings towards what home actually means, it has become more important than ever to invest in the places that give us so much.
So how do you truly achieve a home that is not just a pit stop between work and play?
Attaining the seemingly unattainable is in-fact much simpler than you might think!
A home that is much more than a rest stop starts with you and truly looking at what really matters.
Yes, everyone can fill a house with stuff, but if your home is filled with things that mean little to you it will lack your personality and individual interior design style.
It will be missing that ‘oh so important’ soul that makes a house a home.
A home filled with your personality and induvial style starts with you. What you like and what you dislike, it’s a little bit like with food, but for your home instead of cuisine. Your home’s colours and furniture, light fittings and carpet, you will know what you like and what you don’t like and sometimes you might not like something at first sight, but with a few tastes you actually love it!
A great way to dip your feet in the interior design pond is to replace one piece in your home that might have been there just to fill an empty space or because you needed it at the time, but it is not of any significant personal value, with a piece that speaks to you. For instance, you might have an IKEA bookshelf you picked up because you needed a bookcase, but now it’s time for a grown-up bookcase, now you have the opportunity to find the perfect bookshelf that will not only say something to you, but stay with you.
Finding this piece can be a journey all on its own, but when you find the perfect fit, it will not only hold your books, but it will become a part of your home and add a layer of your personality and style which is what will truly give your home that feeling that no money can buy!
