With the world in such a bizarre state it is nice to escape all of the day to day realities with a good distraction and what is a better distraction than ones own birthday!
Making the most of a birthday at home can be more fun than you may expect, my aim was to make it a day like no other filled with food, adventures and creativity.
The day started with a lazy morning, after a long sleep in it was fresh coffee and a walk in the sunshine with the dogs. Then it was time to get the table set for lunch in the garden, taking advantage of the autumn sunshine. I set a table of blue and white with touches of a vibrant red provided by my gardens own geraniums!
After a very long lunch in the sun it was time for a nap followed by an evening stroll adventure through my own neighbourhood catching all of the autumn leaves and making the most of a very barmy autumns day.
Dinner was a feast provided by a local restaurant (and also a very delicious gift!). I set a table filled with autumn leaves and warm casual tones for a relaxed candlelit evening.
To finish off the day it was cheese, champagne and a rich chocolate cake, because on your birthday its cake for breakfast, lunch and tea!
