With our super busy modern lives, I feel that it’s the simplest of things that are the true luxuries of life. My five everyday luxuries are things for everyone and things that will make every single day a little more special.
1: Beautiful Linens
From beautiful bed sheets to luxurious bath towels there is really no better way to start and end the day.
I love 100% cotton sheets for winter and 100% linen sheets for summer, natural fibres are not only better for our planet they also breath like a dream and hug you all night long for the perfect night’s sleep.
Bath towels knitted of pure soft cotton will last you for years and years and they will make the daily wash a little more luxurious every day, what more could one want?
2: Perfect Porcelain
One of the most forgotten luxuries of our modern world is one of the simplest, porcelain china.
It is a luxury that you can enjoy every day and I promise that once you start using it you won’t want to go back to an earthenware mug ever again!
Every morning I start my day with a hot coffee fresh from my humble stovetop espresso in a porcelain mug, its nothing very fancy, but I can’t tell you the difference.
Fine porcelain may look fragile, but it is pretty much bomb proof for everyday use, it won’t chip or crack like its earthenware cousins and will give you years of service if you treat it will a little bit of extra care.
3: Fresh Blooms or a Plant or Two
It’s hard to express the magic of a bunch of fresh blooms or the life that a house plant will bring to your home every day.
For me I love to have bunches of blooms whenever I can. My favourites include bowls filled with phalaenopsis orchids in white and soft peach and pink, my Wedgewood urns filled with bunches of hydrangea stems in blue and white and crystal vases overflowing with tulips in white, green and purple.
However, when I don’t have any blooms at home, I will always have a few house plants to add some life! I love birds nest ferns, African violets and fiddle leaf figs, they make every home come alive!
4: Paper Inspiration
There is nothing quite like a book or magazine for inspiration, I love the way you can re visit a favourite title again and again and keep finding new things! From interior design, gardens, fashion and style the magic nature of a book is something that is often overlooked and forgotten in our busy and social media driven lives.
I always keep a few books and magazines close to my favourite spots, from my bedside to my coffee table, they are not just there to look good, they are there to be enjoyed every day and every day I pick them up and I am endlessly filled with inspiration!
I love the slower pace of a book, the inspiration that may strike from an image you have seen a million times and never spotted that combination of styles or colours. They are the perfect way to keep your imagination fresh and filled with new and very changing inspiration that won’t be the same as every other social account out there!
5: Time to Wind Down
Finally, after a long busy day the most valuable luxury is time, time to sit, time to reflect, time to spend with friends and family and time to just be.
For me a home that makes me feel good and reflects the things that make me happy is the best place to enjoy this special time.
It a place to truly invest in, to make it a sanctuary for every day, now that is something that a fancy restaurant, extravagant holiday or expensive designer thing can never give you!
If your dreaming of your own special sanctuary get in touch today and let’s make your dreams come true!
